n8n Basecamp Integration

Connect the Basecamp to-do to the client record and the invoice

We connect Basecamp to the rest of your stack in n8n, with a defined source of truth and an alert when a write fails.

The problem

Client threads and to-dos do not share a record with the CRM or the invoice. People export, or they pay per task for a zap that cannot express the rule.

What we automate

  • ✓ Create and update Basecamp records from the system that originates the work
  • ✓ Move or assign work in Basecamp when a status changes elsewhere
  • ✓ Attachments and links passed through, not left as 'see email'
  • ✓ Duplicates blocked by the id you already use
  • ✓ A failure message that names the Basecamp record and the other system's id

Example scope, not a client case study

The first week produces one workflow: create and update Basecamp records from the system that originates the work. Done means a record your team can open, and an alert that names the record when a run fails. This describes the shape of the work. It is not a result from a named client.

How the n8n build works

1

Decide what Basecamp is allowed to own

Some fields are edited in Basecamp. Some are only mirrored. We write that down before mapping.

2

Test auth and the write

One sandbox record proves the token, the rate limit, and the fields the API will accept.

3

Build the sync and the conflict rule

If both sides change a field, one wins and the other is logged.

4

Point alerts at an owner

The person who can fix a Basecamp permission error is the person who gets the alert.

Why teams use this

✓

Basecamp stops being a second place to type the same update

✓

The workflow is visible n8n, so your team can change a field map

✓

Volume is not priced per task

✓

API-only gaps are handled with HTTP nodes when a native node is short

An n8n Basecamp integration is finished when a person can explain which system creates the record and which system is allowed to change it. The nodes are the easy part.

We leave the field map in the workflow description, not in a separate doc that goes stale. When Basecamp renames a property, the failure is obvious and the fix is one node.

What this costs

The scoping call is free. The build is priced per workflow after we see your systems, not as a flat package and not per n8n execution. n8n software is separate: self-hosting is free on your server, and n8n Cloud publishes its own Starter and Pro plans. Those are their prices, not our fee.

Who you talk to

The person who scopes the workflow is the person who designs it. You get that owner on the kickoff call. We reply within 24 hours. AI PROFI does not publish a specialist's local license, a phone number, or a street address for this service.

FAQ

Is there a native n8n node for Basecamp?
We use the native node when it covers the operation. When it does not, we call the Basecamp API directly and document that node.
Can this be two-way?
Yes, if we name which system wins each field. Two-way without that rule creates loops.
Will you migrate an existing Zapier zap?
Yes. We rebuild the Basecamp path in n8n and run both only long enough to compare records.
